Ludwig Beethoven J. Noya

Ludwig Beethoven J. Noya is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lilly Network of Church-Related Colleges & Universities, and a Lecturer in Humanities and Theology at Christ College, Valparaiso University. Born and raised in Southeast Asia (Indonesia), Noya completed a Ph.D. in Religion (Hebrew Bible) in the Southeastern U.S. (Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN). His research explores the socioeconomic aspects of the Hebrew Bible in conversation with contemporary socioeconomic issues. Noya’s dissertation reconsiders the Sabbath transgressions in the Hebrew Bible in conversation with Sabbath experiences in Antebellum North America and the British Colonial Global South. His works have been published and are forthcoming in various journals and collected volumes. Noya is currently preparing two collected volumes related to his research focus. First, on the concept of “rest” in ancient contexts with Seth A. Bledsoe and various European scholars. Second, on class, intersectionality, and the Hebrew Bible with Matthew J.M. Coomber for the CLBSJ Book Series in the commemoration of Norman Gottwald’s 1992 SBL Presidential Address.
